Last verified July 15, 2026. Checked against TrendTrack’s official Chrome Web Store listing and a paid account.
You land on a competitor’s Shopify store and, if you are honest, you are guessing. Is this thing actually selling? What is it running on Meta right now? Which apps hold the checkout together?
The TrendTrack Chrome extension answers all three before the page finishes loading. Here is how to install it and read it like an operator, not a tourist. New to the platform behind it? TrendTrack explained in five minutes walks the rest of the suite.
The TrendTrack Chrome extension is a free store x-ray. Open it on any Shopify store and it reads estimated traffic, visitor country and currency, lists the Shopify apps and theme in use, and opens that store’s Facebook Ad Library in one click. No account, no usage limits.
Disclosure: some links on this page are affiliate links. If you subscribe through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We tested every TrendTrack feature mentioned here on a paid account.
Install it and use it in three steps
The whole point of the extension is speed. No dashboard to open, no login screen, no filters to set. Three moves and you are reading a store.
Step 1: add it from the Chrome Web Store
Install it from the official extension page, which sends you to the Chrome Web Store listing. TrendTrack rebuilt the extension in March 2026 and shipped it free for everyone, so there is nothing to buy here.
On the store listing it sits at 4.9/5 with 10,000+ users as of July 2026. Pin the icon to your toolbar once and you never open a menu to find it again.
Plan check: the extension is free and needs no account. It is a fast x-ray of one store at a time, not the searchable database. The full 1.87M-store index and the ad spy modules live inside the app, from Starter ($59/mo, or $42/mo billed annually).
Step 2: open any Shopify store
Navigate to any Shopify storefront. A product page or the homepage both work. Click the TrendTrack icon and the panel slides in over the page.
You do not need to be logged into anything. The extension reads what is public about the store and lays it out in a few seconds.
Step 3: read the x-ray
The top of the panel is the store’s vital signs: estimated monthly traffic, the main visitor country and the store currency. Treat the traffic number as an estimate, directional rather than audited.
Below that sits the tech stack and the shortcut to the store’s live ads. That second half is what most operators actually came for.

What the extension actually reveals
Read one panel end to end and you get a working profile of the store. Here is what each block is telling you, and how to put it to work.
The stack block lists the Shopify apps, the theme and the fonts a store runs. Spot a reviews app, a one-click upsell, or a specific bundle app and you are staring at part of their conversion recipe.
| Field | What the extension shows | Where the deeper version lives |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic | Estimated monthly visits | Shops module: Est. Revenue and traffic history |
| Visitor country | Main country sending traffic | Shops filters: Visitor Country |
| Currency | Store currency and target market | Shops filters: currency, language |
| Apps & theme | Detected Shopify apps and theme | Shops filters: apps, theme, pixels |
| Fonts | Fonts loaded on the storefront | N/A (visual audit only) |
| Live ads | One-click Facebook Ad Library | Ads module and Brandtracker (Ad Rank, history) |
One click opens the store’s Facebook Ad Library, so you can see the exact creatives it is running right now. The free Google Ads Transparency Center works the same way for search and YouTube.

Three ways operators use it
The extension earns its place differently depending on what you sell and how you work. Three patterns come up again and again.
The product scout
You found a store on TikTok and want to know if it is worth copying. Open the extension, check the estimated traffic and the visitor country, then jump into its ads to see which products it is actually pushing.
A store with real traffic and a wall of active creatives is a different signal than a pretty storefront running nothing.
The scaler watching a rival
You already know your competitor. Every few days you open their store, glance at the estimated traffic, and click straight into their Ad Library to catch new creatives early.
Done by hand it is a two-minute ritual. The extension makes it a ten-second one.
The brand auditing its own stack
Open the extension on your own store and you see what a competitor sees. Check which apps are detectable, whether your theme gives anything away, and how your live ad footprint reads from the outside.
Where the extension stops
The extension is a scalpel, not the whole kit. It reads one store at a time, in the moment. It cannot screen 1.87M stores by 17 filters, and that gap is exactly where the paid app takes over. Our full TrendTrack review walks every module it does not.
There is no ad history in the panel, no Ad Rank score, no Brandtracker timeline of a store’s testing waves. The extension shows you now; the app shows you the trend.

FAQ
Is the TrendTrack Chrome extension free?
Yes. TrendTrack rebuilt its Chrome extension in March 2026 and made it free for everyone, with no usage limits on the core store x-ray. It sits at 4.9/5 on the Chrome Web Store with 10,000+ users as of July 2026. Some linked data reflects your account level, but the x-ray itself costs nothing.
Do I need a TrendTrack account to use the extension?
No. The extension x-rays a store the moment you open it, with no login. A free account adds an interactive demo of the full database, and paid plans from $59/mo unlock the searchable index and ad spy, but the extension works on its own.
What stores does the extension work on?
It is built for Shopify stores. Open it on a Shopify storefront and it reads estimated traffic, the visitor country, the currency, the theme, the apps in use, and links to that store’s Facebook Ad Library. Non-Shopify sites return little to nothing.
Is the TrendTrack extension safe to install?
It is published on the official Chrome Web Store listing, which is the only place you should install it from. It reads public store data and your account level; it does not touch your customers or your own store’s backend. Install it from the official page, not a mirror.
The fastest habit in ad spy
The TrendTrack extension is the cheapest habit you can build: free, no account, one click on any Shopify store. It will not replace the database, and it is not meant to.
Install it, open it on the next competitor you find, and let it tell you in seconds what used to take ten browser tabs.
Ready to screen the whole market, not one store?
Keep the free extension for quick x-rays, then open a free account to search 1.87M stores by 17 filters. Ad spy starts on Pro ($89/mo, or $62/mo billed annually).
